Program Overview

This program provides teachers from pre-school through high school levels the opportunity to learn about the American education system, their teaching methods and material while sharing knowledge of their own country with the Americans. At the same time, it is also an opportunity to improve English skills. Teachers are placed in host schools depending on their interests and teaching background.

In the host school, participants engage in classroom, administrative and extra-curricular activities and also share with American students and teachers aspects of their own culture. Participants live with American host families, allowing them the unique opportunity to experience daily American life by being part of an American family.

Duration of Program

  • The program can be from two weeks to one semester (August to December or January to June), depending on the participant’s interest.

Eligibility Requirements

You must:

  • be Singaporean
  • be proficient in the English language
  • be able to interact with Americans
  • be a teacher in Singapore at a level from pre-school to high school in a recognized institution

When Is the Program Available?

This program is available anytime during the academic year – August to December or January to June.

What Is Included in the Program?

Speedwing administers this program in partnership with US organization ACES. Participants receive the following:

  • Airport Transfers Between the Final Destination Airport Designated by ACES and the Host Community
  • Placement with Host Family and Host School
  • Local Coordinators Support Throughout the Program
  • 24-hour Emergency Assistance
  • Certificate of Program Completion
  • Room and Meals (except room and meals away from host family home and school lunches)
  • Health and Accident Insurance for duration of stay in the US
